ESL Level 3
This is the third level of courses for ESL students at an advanced level of English.
Here are the three steps to choosing your courses (see registration presentation).
Step One
- Apply at Kwantlen and pay $40.00.
- Take the KIST and Accuplacer ($70.00) test to find out your English level.
- Wait two (2) weeks for results to be mailed to your home (receive your marks in two days if you call the registrar's office)
Step Two
Register for both of these "core" courses:
- ELST 0381 (Writing English for Academic Purposes) core Course (6 credits)
- ELST 0383 (Academic Listening and Speaking Skills) core Course (3 credits)
Step Three
Now, register for two of these electives*
- 2 university level course of low language demand (credit 3) (Examples of courses available)
- ELST 0261 Advanced pronunciation Elective 3 Credits
- ELST 0262 Grammar II Elective 3 Credits
- ELST 0365 English Language and Culture (3 credits)
- ELST 0267 English for Business (3 credits)
* Full-time students will take both core courses plus two electives for a total of 15 credits. To take a university course as an elective, you must be enrolled in 0281 and 0283 at the same time or enrolled in either 0281 or 0283, but both courses must completed.

- or TOEFL iBT 79 with TOEFL iBT listening sub-score 19 and TOEFL iBT speaking sub-score 19
