Giving Back

Many alumni choose to give back to Kwantlen in the form of a charitable donation. Such support helps provide scholarships, awards and bursaries, as well as funds for equipment, programs and expansion. Please visit the Foundation web site for more information on their projects and priorities.

However, there are other—equally important—ways to give back to your alma mater. Volunteerism is the backbone of many of our alumni programs. Without such help, the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Alumni Association would not be able to offer important initiatives such as the Mentorship Program, its Speaker Series and a number of networking and special events.

As a volunteer, you can sign up for as much or as little support as you like. There are a variety of opportunities, including:

Mentorship Program — Would you like to make a difference in somebody's life? Becoming a mentor is an important and rewarding way to give back. We are actively recruiting mentors for this very important and rewarding program. For more information on becoming or signing up as a mentor.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Alumni Association (KPUAA) Board of Directors — KPUAA plays an important role in the governance of Kwantlen Polytechnic University. As a Director on the KPUAA Board, you are a high profile ambassador of both the University and the Alumni Association. Your commitment, time and expertise are KPUAA's most valuable resource.

Committee Members — In 2010, the KPUAA Board of Directors established a number of committees in support of important initiatives that affect KPUAA, the University and its stakeholders. As a committee member, you are representing Kwantlen alumni on matters that are important to you.

Kwantlen Alumni Ambassadorial Team (KAAT) — The KAAT program is a new KPUAA initiative where outstanding graduates work directly with the Alumni and President's Offices to publicly represent Kwantlen Polytechnic University in the communities that we serve. Members of the team attend Kwantlen and community events and functions, assist with recruiting efforts, and represent Kwantlen Polytechnic University as an extension of the Office of the President.

General Volunteers — KPUAA events often require volunteers for a variety of general tasks. From folding and stuffing invitations to welcoming guests and setting up venues, your help—small or large—is much appreciated. There is no pressure for a minimum commitment—every little bit helps.

For more information on these opportunities, please email alumni@kwantlen.ca.
