Joseph Chen
Joseph joined the Department of Economics at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in January 2008. He began his teaching career as a Sessional Instructor at the University of Victoria in 2004 and later joined Camosun College as Economics Instructor in 2005.His areas of teaching include Introductory Economics, Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Managerial Economics, Industrial Organization and Business Mathematics.
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from Soochow University (Taiwan, 1990), a Master's Degree in Inter-disciplinary Studies of American Economics, Law and Politics from Chinese Culture University (Taiwan, 1993), a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Honours, cum lauda) in Economics from York University (2000). He is pursuing his PhD in Economics at the University of Victoria. Having successfully completed his coursework and comprehensive exams, he is currently writing his dissertation on the economics of alcohol and crime. His fields of specialization and interest include industrial organization, labour economics, law and economics and game theory.
Joseph grew up in Taiwan before migrating to New Zealand in 1996 and then to Toronto in 1997. He enjoys cooking, reading, listening to music and playing table tennis.
