Lance Shandler
I was born in Edmonton, Alberta and grew up in Vancouver. After high school I embarked on the Chartered Accountancy program and began studies at Simon Fraser University for a double major in economics and commerce. I completed a BA and carried immediately on with a Masters degree in economics having decided not to proceed with the accounting profession.Having almost completed a masters degree I accepted a job with a firm of consulting foresters and environmental scientists where I undertook forest industry business studies. I moved to Toronto where I started working in property management and commercial leasing with Olympia & York Developments Ltd. With them, I moved to Calgary and worked there for about ten years, before returning to Vancouver.
I re-enrolled at SFU, completed my MA and commenced studies toward a PhD. There, I completed the course work and comprehensive exams with specialization in monetary theory and methodology. I began teaching at SFU as well as at several other colleges in the greater Vancouver area until joining Kwantlen Polytechnic University in the early 1990’s.
