Graduates & Students

student awards What is the difference between Graduation and Convocation?

Graduation is the term used to acknowledge that you have met your program requirements and that your credential has been conferred by Senate to graduate from the program. Convocation refers to the ceremony where you are awarded your credential by the Chancellor.

Convocation is a time-honoured tradition, and at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, we look forward to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of our students.

Our next convocation is on May 31, 2012.

Updates will be made to this convocation website on an ongoing basis as more information about the May 31, 2012 Convocation ceremony becomes available.

When will I receive my credential?

Every candidate for a credential must submit a formal application for graduation. Kwantlen’s Senate confers credentials each month between the months of September – June as per the meeting schedule. Students can choose to have their credentials mailed, or presented to them at Convocation. If you choose to have your credential mailed to you, a graduation assessment will be completed upon receipt of your graduation application, and then forwarded to Senate for conferral. Your credential will not be mailed to you until it has been conferred by Senate. This process can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks.
