Co-op Program in Computer Information Systems


Entry Requirements

Students wishing to choose the Co-op option must enroll in COOP 1101 in conjunction with their first academic term courses. Prerequisites for the first Co-op work term (COOP 1110) are permission of the instructor as well as the completion of first year courses with a minimum 2.33 grade point average. Students must attain a "C" or better in all courses required to progress to subsequent semesters.

To qualify for the second Co-op work semester students must have a satisfactory report from the first work semester, and be enrolled in all the prescribed second semester courses. CIS students must also have a cumulative GPA of 2.33 (C+) or better for their first two academic terms.

Federal and provincial governments, municipalities, private businesses, and non-profit organizations are some examples of our employers. Positions are all over the lower mainland, from Vancouver to Burnaby to Richmond and North Vancouver. You can work in another province or country as well. Be open to the possibilities and get ready to commute.

Generally, CIS students work Monday to Friday during regular business hours. Some students may work weekend shifts as well. Average wages are from $10.25-$18.00 per hour depending on the employer, the requirements, and previous experience.
