Class Cancellations

Has my class been cancelled?

Check your mykwantlen and other email accounts for possible class cancellation updates from your instructors. Campus closure notification for students in classes will be made through instructors.

Campus Closures

For announcements regarding the status of campus opening/closing, due to serious inclement weather conditions or other situations, updates will be made using the following processes in the following order:

Visit mykwantlen.ca
The website will be the most accurate and up-to-date information source. In times of need, a graphic labeled "Current Campus Status & Alerts" will be placed on the kwantlen.ca homepage at the top of the existing left side column labeled "Important Information". Click on this graphic for campus status and alert information.

Call 604.599.2100 for campus status updates.

Listen to Radio/TV News
There is often a delay with radio and TV media outlets announcing updates as they are inundated with many requests from police, K-12 schools, post-secondary schools, and other organizations, and they control if and when these updates are announced.

How do Instructors notify Kwantlen if they need to cancel their Class ?

To report your absence and/or class cancellation:

• Call the University Switchboard at 604-599-2100 between 7:30 and 5:30 pm Monday to Friday
• You will then need to follow up with phone call to your division or department secretary
• After hours messages can be left by calling 604-599-2222 and recording your class cancellation information in Voice Mailbox 4100.

Please be ready with the following information:

• Name of instructor
• Number of classes to be cancelled
• Course/Section/Rooms/Time/Date for each class
• Expected length of absence

The switchboard personnel will print a class cancellation notice and fax it to the campus where the notice will be posted on your classroom door.
