Services

Kwantlen offers a range of services to our students. However, international students find certain services especially helpful in making the most of their undergraduate experience.

The International Education Office

Our International Education Office assists students with a range of issues, from admission and registration, to questions regarding medical insurance and study permits. We will help you select your courses and can give you tips on how to improve your study skills for success in your classes. If you have questions about which credits may be transferred to Kwantlen; or what courses you need to transfer to another school, the International Advisors can help you. At Orientation, we will introduce you to Kwanlten Polytechnic University and help you take your first steps towards academic success. The International Office ensures that you have a fully integrated undergraduate experience.

Athletics and Recreation

Make new friends by joining activities such as basketball, volleyball, yoga and dancing. Kwantlen also offers competitive varsity basketball, soccer and golf for men and women, as well as men’s baseball. Kwantlen Eagles, our men’s baseball team, has won the B.C. and Canadian College Championships. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Chris Lemay in the 2004 Major League Baseball draft. The men’s basketball
team is ranked in the top 15 across Canada in the College league. Surrey campus houses our full size gymnasium and fitness centre.

Bookstore

Book lists of required and optional textbooks are available at all campus bookstores. The bookstore carries specialized supplies for courses as well as general school supplies, reference books and much more.

Co-Op Education Office

The Co-Operative Education Office assists students find employment in programs where Co-Op is required. Academically qualified students in Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology, BBA in Accounting and Entrepreneurial Leadership, Computer Information Systems Diploma, Environmental Protection Technology and Marketing Management Diploma are eligible to work and be paid as part of their studies. International students must be able to obtain an Employment Authorization to qualify for Co-Op.

Counselling & Advising

Counsellors assist students in making career decisions, coping with personal problems, and learning the skills necessary to effectively handle the demands of educational studies. Advisors help students make informed decisions about their education and career goals.

Student Awards and Financial Assistance

Kwantlen Polytechnic University administers a number of scholarships for which students may apply. A wide range of awards are available to recognize students with high academic standing. Scholarship information is available through the Financial Awards office on each campus.

The Learning Centres

The Learning Centres provide learning assistance services to students. Sign up for one-to-one and small group tutorials in a range of academic areas and study skill seminars on different topics. Students can access electronic and print resources and tools to complete assignments.

Library

Kwantlen's three libraries provide a wide array of resources designed to assist students with class work and to encourage self-directed research and learning on all campuses. Library resources are available to students, staff, and faculty, as well as the community. The library offers several services including: “Finding Your Way Around” workshops, requests and recalls, and inter-library loans.

Student Association

With offices on each campus, the Student Association provides representation, advocacy and services to students. Some activities and services include subsidized bus fares, sport event tickets, affordable photocopies, on and off campus entertainment, clubs, speakers and forums, and locker rentals.
