Online Learning @ Kwantlen
Attention Students: Instructors use only your myKwantlen email address for course communications. You are responsible for auto forwarding your mail to another address if you choose not to use the myKwantlen system. If you do not forward your mail, you risk missing important information about your course. Click the Email icon in myKwantlen and find Auto Forward on the Options tab.
Kwantlen offers students a variety of ways to do their course work. While most of our courses are offered in a traditional classroom or lab setting, many are offered partially or fully online.
Partially online courses are designed to replace some classroom time. As each course has different objectives, each course instructor will design the online component in a unique way. For example, one instructor might choose to replace one two-hour block in the week with online work, and another might choose to replace several weeks of the semester, when a student would typically be in a classroom, with online work.
Research shows that partially online courses benefit students in their learning. Besides offering students increased flexibility in course work and course schedules, partially online courses help students be more prepared for in-class work and for assignments and exams.
Fully online courses are offered in many disciplines and departments. Some of the fully online courses require in-person attendance for orientations or for exams, and all develop interactivity among students and instructors in an online environment. All students can do well in a fully online course, but those who have the most success are those who are self-directed and motivated.
Students can access their partially or fully online courses anywhere there is a reliable Internet connection (DSL, Cable, or Satellite recommended--a dial-up connection is not advised).
Online courses, are listed in the current Timetable. After students have registered for a partially or fully online course, they should log onto the 
myKwantlen student portal and click on the My Courses tab to access their course sites.
Kwantlen uses Moodle, an open source learning management system, for delivering fully and partially online courses. See About Moodle for additional help and information.
Course websites are an integral part of many courses. Instructors may choose to use online tools in various ways to support face-to-face classes. If an instructor has set up a website for a course, it will be available to students from their My Courses page in myKwantlen.
