March Madness Basketball Tournament
Familiar Faces Recapture 3rd Annual March Madness Trophy
The tournament was fast paced with each team playing a grueling five game round robin competition to determine the seeding for the playoff rounds. The “Walnut Grove Legends” finished the round robin with a 5-0 record and a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Team Stefon managed to grab the second seed of the tournament giving them a valuable break from the first round of the playoffs. “The Stonerz” managed to avenge a loss against “Team Stefon” in the round robin by defeating them 11-7 in the semis to earn a berth in the finals against the defending champions the “Walnut Grove Legends” who defeated Team Starheim in their semifinal match.
The final matchup between “The Stonerz” and the “Walnut Grove Legends” was a tight affair. The action was back and forth, however the “Walnut Grove Legends” were able to utilize their size advantage to pull out a 15-7 victory.
The March Madness 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament is a joint venture between Kwantlen’s department of Athletics and Recreation and the KSA Intramurals program. All tournament fees collected will be donated to the Charitable organization “Right to Play”. Congratulations once again to the three time March Madness Tournament winners the “Walnut Grove Legends” and thank you to all teams who participated and made this event a huge success!
