Biology
Why take Biology at Kwantlen?
Kwantlen's small class sizes enable us to provide a learning environment in which students can interact directly with their professors, both in the classroom and outside the class. As well, Kwantlen Biology offers an intensive laboratory experience. Our "open lab system" allows the student to work at their own pace each week with ample access to assistance from both Faculty and Lab Instructors. The Langley Campus Biology courses run 3 hr scheduled labs that are specialized for the programs they support such as the Environmental Protection Technology Program. We consider the "hands-on learning" associated with labs an essential complement to classroom theory and nearly all of our Biology courses include weekly labs.
Are you looking for a science or Q credit towards an Arts or Education degree?
For students not majoring in Biology, the Kwantlen Biology Department offers a non-majors course, Biology 1112: Biology Today. This course focuses on current "hot topics" in biology including cloning, stem cell research, genetically modified foods, and DNA fingerprinting. The course provides the opportunity to expand your understanding with "hands-on" labs. To find out more about this course, click on the course description.
Are you interested in Kwantlen's Nursing or Environmental Protection Technology Programs?
