Metropolis National Research Competition
Deadline: October 4, 2010
SSHRC, in collaboration with the Metropolis Secretariat at Citizenship and Immigration Canada, has launched the fourth competition of the Metropolis National Research Competition. The application form and general program description is available through SSHRC’s website. The results of the competition will be announced in March 2011.
The purpose of the annual Metropolis National Research Competition is to select and finance a major national-level policy research project in the field of immigration and diversity. Each year, the National Metropolis Committee votes on an essential research theme on which the call for proposals will be focused. The findings of the research will be of direct relevance to policy-makers within the Government of Canada and, more specifically, to the main funding partners of the Metropolis Project. It is for this purpose that they select a specific research theme that they would like answered. This call for research proposals seeks assessments of the adequacy of the standard explanations of poverty and of enduring economic disadvantage amongst growing visible minorities in Canada. For a more detailed explanation of this theme, please see CIC’s website: http://canada.metropolis.net/competition/4th_researchcomp_e.html
