Stephen Dooley, Sociology & Criminology Faculty

"The very best thing about being at Kwantlen is the students. In our small class sizes, there's lots of opportunity as a faculty member to get to know my students and to work with them closely on their research projects. I would say that was one of the best advantages of being at Kwantlen is the interaction that is possible between faculty members and students."
Stephen Dooley is a core researcher for the "Acting Together" research project, funded by a Community University Research Alliance award granted by the federal agency Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The goal of this $1 million project is to identify and nurture factors that keep our youth from engaging in violent gang-related activity. Dooley is responsible for the continual liaison with the community, program evaluation of current initiatives and the interventions developed through this research, and qualitative research design and implementation.
